Institute of Information Technology (IIT)
In the annual session of June 2001, The Dhaka University Senate established Institute of Information Technology (IIT) by converting the erstwhile Computer Center (Estd. in 1985). The aim was to train skilled manpower in the field of Information Technology (IT) and to establish computer network in the University.
Since then, IIT introduced several academic programs through Bachelor to PhD degrees. IIT has taken the credit of starting the Software Engineering education in this country by inaugurating Bachelor Of Science in Software Engineering (BSSE) in year 2009. To make the continuation, IIT later introduced the first ever research based masters degree in the filed of Software Engineering (MSc. in Software Engineering (MSSE)) in 2013. Beside that to achieve the excellence, IIT also started MPhil and PhD program from the same year 2013.
At the same time, the Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT) and Master in Information Technology (MIT) are two of the oldest programs that IIT is continuing.
The three-storey red ceramic IIT building has a silent ambience and it adjacent to Dhaka University Science Library and Khondker Mukarram Hussain Science Building.
